Its public page says JavaScript and cookies must be enabled, sign-in is not required for a basic search, and Advanced Search Options can specify which court records and options to search. Types of Washington County Court Records
Washington County Circuit Court is the county's main trial court. It handles civil, criminal, family, juvenile, probate, traffic, violation, landlord-tenant, small claims, and related trial court matters unless a limited court has jurisdiction. Washington County Justice Court handles most state motor vehicle code violations, certain misdemeanors, and civil or small claims money cases up to $10,000. Municipal courts handle city-code and city citation matters for their cities.

Washington County also has historic court records. The Oregon Secretary of State inventory lists older probate case files, historical jail registers, deed indexes, county vault records, and archive holdings that may not be found through a modern online case search.
What Washington County Court Records Show
OJD describes the case register or log as the place where the court records events for a case. In Washington County, the public search may show basic case details and events, while OJCIN or public terminals provide the official non-confidential register. Copies of filed documents require a case-file request. A court record is strongest when read as a chain: case number, parties, filing date, case type, events, hearings, orders, judgment, disposition, and financial entries.

Washington County Court Records Access
Oregon public access is shaped by both public-records law and court-records rules. ORS 192.311 to 192.478 sets the public-records framework for public bodies, and ORS 192.324 permits fees that do not exceed actual costs. ORS 7.020 establishes the court register where filings, hearings, judgments, and other events are recorded.
Free OJD search is useful, but OJD warns that it is limited and not the official register. The official register for non-confidential cases is accessed at courthouse public terminals or through OJCIN for subscribers. Copies of documents come through the Circuit Court Records Department. Sheriff's police reports and DA public records are different channels, even when they relate to the same incident.
Note: A public case entry may exist even when documents, identities, or confidential case types are not available online.
Restricted Washington County Court Records
Some Washington County court records are restricted by law or court order. OJD excludes adoption, juvenile, mental health, and Violence Against Women Act case information from the free online records and calendar service. ORS 419A.255 withholds juvenile court records from public inspection except for listed authorized persons and entities.
Set-aside records are another category. ORS 137.225 governs Oregon's process for setting aside eligible convictions, arrests, citations, and charges. Eligibility depends on the case, charge, outcome, waiting period, obligations, later convictions, and statutory exclusions. Washington County Records Requests
The Circuit Court Records Department is located in the Public Records Review Room at the Justice Services Building. The department links an online court records request form, case file copy instructions, audio copy details, and transcript routing. Copies may also be requested in person. Payment is due before copy completion, and mailing adds actual postage.
